Costumes are purchasable items in the 2020 version of Monster Dash that change Barry's appearance. They do not affect gameplay and are aesthetic only. Their main difference from clothing in Jetpack Joyride is that they are not divided into head and body.

In April 2021, Betty Beefpies was added to the game with several costumes of her own. All of her costumes use a different set of hurt voice clips compared to Barry's costumes. However, none of them have any additional voice clips, making her mostly silent even if the voice option is turned on.

A total of 44 costumes were made during this period of Monster Dash.

Trivia[]

  • The Ninja costume originally appeared in the 2014 version of the game, exclusively when the Fruit Ninja Blade was equipped.
  • Some of the costumes seem to be based on clothing sets that appeared in Jetpack Joyride prior to the release of the 2020 remaster.
  • Some of the costumes and their info descriptions contain various pop-culture references.
  • Beast Hunter was originally going to have a unique haircut and yellow eyes, closer resembling Geralt's appearance in The Witcher video games. The final game uses Barry's default Canadian haircut and green eyes. The original look is seen in one of the trailers,[2] as well as the two thumbnails of Androlikos' play-through of the game, all of which were uploaded on Halfbrick's YouTube channel.[3][4]
  • Two additional costumes, Noble and Wilds Hunter, existed within the game's files but were never finished and left unused. Both costumes have complete descriptions: "These monsters are about to get royally messed up." for Noble, and "A seasoned veteran surviving the wilds. The apex predator." for Wilds Hunter. It's unknown what they would have looked like however due to their textures being recolors of Barry's default look, likely used as placeholders.
